Jewels Of Malaysia Afternoon Tea Celebrates Malaysia’s Finest Ingredients

Created by Executive Pastry Chef Partha Pratim Bose, the new afternoon tea transforms beloved local ingredients into elegant pastries and savouries.

Afternoon tea has long been a showcase for pastry chefs to demonstrate technique, but at Four Seasons Hotel KL, the latest edition is just as much about ingredients as it is craftsmanship.

The hotel’s new Jewels of Malaysia Afternoon Tea takes some of the country’s most beloved flavours and gives them a polished, contemporary treatment. Think Harumanis mango, Musang King durian, locally grown cacao and pandan kaya, all transformed into a menu that feels unmistakably Malaysian without leaning on nostalgia.

Leading the programme is newly appointed Executive Pastry Chef Partha Pratim Bose, whose career spans acclaimed kitchens across India, the Middle East, and Central Asia. His approach starts with the ingredient itself, using modern pastry techniques to highlight rather than disguise its character.

Among the sweets, Tropical Pandan Bliss is likely to draw the most attention. Inspired by the humble kaya toast breakfast, it layers pandan panna cotta and honey with pandan brioche toast, house-made kaya, coconut jelly, and gula Melaka. Also, Golden Bean pays tribute to Malaysia’s growing cacao industry with 70 percent dark chocolate sourced from Chemor and Kelantan, paired with coffee and praline.

The seasonal sweetness of Harumanis mango shines in Sun-Kissed Mango Delight, while durian lovers can look forward to The Thorned Crown, a choux pastry creation filled with Musang King durian, coconut, and citrus.

The savoury selection is equally thoughtful. Pai Tee with Percik Chicken gives the classic Nyonya snack a smoky upgrade, while the Charcoal Croquette hides slow-braised beef rendang beneath a striking black shell, finished with truffle mayonnaise. The Imperial Borneo & Avocado Craquelin pairs Sabah lobster with avocado and the floral heat of bunga kantan.

Priced at RM500 per set for two guests, the Jewels of Malaysia Afternoon Tea is served in The Lounge overlooking KLCC Park, where guests can explore Malaysia’s finest ingredients through a thoughtfully crafted selection of sweet and savoury creations.
