3 Cafes In KL That Open Till Late

Colin GomezEat, Drink2 weeks ago

Looking for somewhere to grab a coffee after most of KL has already called it a night? These three cafes stay open late enough for you to actually make an evening of it.

These days, with how hectic the life of your average KL urbanite is, the only time you find to hang out with your friends is after you’ve gotten off work, run some errands, fed the dog, etc., etc., by which time it’s usually well into the night. You then run into the obvious problem of most places having closed for the night, or having begun stacking their chairs at the very least.

For those of us who don’t frequent bars, or are looking for an alternative to our usual mamak, here are some cafes that keep the lights on a little bit later and make for great options to grab a coffee, catch up with your friends, or simply sit around doing nothing into the small hours.

Pucks Coffee

Go for a stroll along Jalan Tun H S Lee and you might just happen upon Pucks Coffee, a place that makes you wonder why there aren’t more cafes that stay open till late. A cosy, slightly eclectic space goes hand in hand with a menu featuring well-made coffee and matcha options, as well as a delightful selection of sweet treats. It opens its doors at noon and only closes at midnight, giving you ample time to while the evening away.

Chateau De Caffeinees

If midnight still feels a little early to call it a night, Chateau De Caffeinees in Kampung Pandan has got you covered. A café and restaurant decked out in a garden-style façade, it’s a long-standing late-night haunt that serves everything from coffee and desserts to proper meals and drinks. It’s open till 1am every day of the week, except on Fridays and Saturdays, where they extend that by an hour, giving you a little more time to properly ease into the weekend.

Missed this atmosphere? Worry not, the new location carries much of the same spirit

Betterdays Slow Coffee Bar

Over in Bangsar, Betterdays Slow Coffee Bar takes the concept of a late-night cafe and leans fully into it. Formerly operating out of a house along Lorong Maarof, their new location just a hop and a skip away in Jalan Kemuja is even more spacious but manages to retain its languidly-paced ease. There’s coffee, of course, but for those wary of their caffeine intake past a certain hour, there’s also an Iced “Vanilla Ice Cream” Milk that I’m a particular fan of. The strawberry version isn’t half bad either.

Give these a go the next time you’re craving a coffee at an hour when most cafes have already packed up for the day. They make for some great late-night hangouts, somewhere to get some work done, or simply an excuse to avoid going home just yet.
