Why stick to one cuisine when you can take a few Steppes? This new dining playground brings a world of flavours together under one roof.
Mont Kiara has a new address for those who take the phrase ‘What do you feel like eating?’ very seriously. Welcome to Steppes, a dining hub where one craving can quickly turn into several.
From steaming bowls of Japanese ramen and smoky Korean BBQ to sourdough pizza, Peranakan favourites, steaks, and cheesecake, Steppes brings a rather ambitious mix of flavours under one roof. There’s even specialty coffee for when the food coma starts knocking. Whether you’re planning a proper meal, catching up over bites and beers, or simply wandering in with no idea what you want, here are eight places worth putting on your radar.

For days when only a comforting bowl of ramen will do, Fujin is a good place to start. The modern Japanese restaurant specialises in tori paitan ramen, with rich, chicken-based broths that lean thick, creamy and deeply satisfying. Prefer a little heat? There are spicy options too. Everything here is pork-free, while the menu also extends beyond noodles with gyoza, rice bowls, and Japanese-style custard desserts.

Pizza cravings and a preference for something a little less heavy can coexist. At La Pané, sourdough takes centre stage, giving its pizzas a light, chewy base with plenty of character. Choices include Aanchovy, Ttruffle, and Angus, making it easy to settle in for lunch, dinner or that awkward in-between hour when you tell yourself you’re ‘just having a slice’.

A dining hub without a steakhouse? That would feel like leaving the main character out of the script. Steka Grill House is all about the grill, with a menu built around steak and daily hand-selected cuts. It works just as well for a leisurely lunch as it does for dinner when you want something satisfying without turning the evening into a full-blown fine-dining affair.

After all the pizza, ramen, and grilled meat, Lama Nyonya Restaurant brings things closer to home with a menu of Peranakan favourites. The food is reason enough to visit, but the restaurant also leans into the experience with vintage-inspired Peranakan interiors that make settling in for a meal feel like part of the occasion. A welcome detour when your dining rotation has been stuck between pasta and poke bowls.

Korean BBQ remains one of those meals that is rarely a bad idea, especially when meat is sizzling right in front of you. At Seogam Korean BBQ, premium pork cuts are the highlight, alongside familiar favourites such as spicy rice cakes, egg rolls, and warming soups. Bring friends, arrive hungry and accept that you may leave smelling faintly of barbecue.

A proper izakaya is built for lingering, and Fujisawa Izakaya gives you plenty of reasons to do exactly that. Expect skewers, small bites, Japanese bowls, and sharing plates, alongside premium wagyu and yakitori. It’s particularly suited to bigger groups where the table gradually disappears under food and drinks.

After working your way through the savoury side of Steppes, Bask is where dessert enters the chat. The beloved cheesecake specialist brings its familiar favourites to Mont Kiara, including Original, Chocolate, and Matcha cheesecakes, best enjoyed with a generous spoonful of whipped cream. Because after ramen, pizza, steak, or Korean BBQ, there is always room for cheesecake.

Every good food crawl needs coffee somewhere in the equation. At One Half, that coffee comes with options for every kind of palate, whether you prefer something bold, floral, fruity or nutty. The café’s Steppes Blossom is a house special created especially for the location, and it pairs neatly with the selection of cakes and pastries. Consider it your pit stop, palate cleanser, or excuse to order dessert before dinner.
