Evian celebrates 200 years with a limited-edition collector’s series featuring Jeff Koons’ Balloon Dog, with the bottles making a brief appearance at 20 selected restaurants across Kuala Lumpur this September.
Before hydration became something people tracked on smartwatches and wellness became a conversation starter, Evian was simply doing what it has always done. Water from the French Alps spends years filtering slowly through layers of glacial rock before making its way into the bottle, a natural process that has shaped its distinctive mineral composition for two centuries.

Now celebrating its ‘200 Years Young’ anniversary, Evian is marking the milestone with a collector’s series that is every bit as considered as the water inside. Leading the celebrations is a collaboration with contemporary artist Jeff Koons, whose unmistakable Balloon Dog appears on two limited-edition 500ml bottle designs. The collection comes in soft pink for still water and vibrant blue for sparkling, with the balloon dog taking centre stage on the design.
Then again, when your only ingredient is born from provenance, patience starts to look like a rather good strategy.

Throughout September, diners can spot the limited-edition Evian bottles at 20 selected restaurants across Kuala Lumpur. They are not available for individual purchase, so if you fancy adding one to your table, you’ll have to order something from the menu and hope there’s still a bottle of your choice left. Both designs are available while stocks last.
The collection can be found at SOL @ The Met, Luca, Frangipaani, Terra Dining, Entier French Dining, DC Restaurant, Gai, Bref, Fuego, Mr Chew at Troika Sky Dining, Chim by Chef Noom, BarKar, Kikyo KL, As I Am by Chef Ton, Shu KL, Alva KL, The Brasserie at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, Tangram, Potager KL, and Kuki.
And naturally, a few of these happen to be among KL diners’ favourite go-to spots. Here are four worth making a reservation for.

Located at M Resort Hotel and with a second outlet in TTDI, Gai by Darren Chin is a Michelin-Selected restaurant centred on the flavours of Northern Thailand, Isaan, and Lanna. The restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Darren Chin and his wife, Nana, who take family-rooted recipes and give them a more polished treatment with premium ingredients and meticulous technique.
The familiar Thai balancing act of salty, sweet, spicy, and sour remains firmly in place, but arrives with a little more finesse. In other words, the food may have grown up, but it hasn’t forgotten where it came from.

Also located at M Resort Hotel, Bref is another Darren Chin creation, but with a distinctly more relaxed personality. This Michelin-Selected, contemporary Parisian-style bistro is helmed by Executive Chef Lim Han Wei and offers a more casual alternative to its fine-dining sister, DC Restaurant.
Described by Chef Darren as his ‘little retreat’, Bref is all about comforting French food without unnecessary ceremony. Expect classic compositions, seasonal ingredients and the sort of dishes that make you want to linger just a little longer than planned. Consider it the less formal sibling who still knows how to dress for dinner.

Located on the second floor of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, The Brasserie brings a French sensibility to the hotel’s dining scene. The Michelin-Selected restaurant draws on modern European and French-Mediterranean techniques while incorporating locally sourced Malaysian ingredients.
Its interiors are just as thoughtful, with pressed-tin ceilings nodding to Malaysia’s colonial and tin-mining history. High ceilings, elegant detailing, and a restrained palette give the space the feel of a polished French café, only with considerably more room for dinner and a rather impressive hotel address.

Floating high above the city at Ascott Star KLCC, Alva KL makes a strong case for looking up from your plate every once in a while. The pork-free sky dining and grill restaurant offers eye-level views of the Petronas Twin Towers, KL Tower, and TRX Tower, with indoor and alfresco seating for those who like their dinner with a side of skyline.
The menu brings together Modern Western-American grill favourites and Asian-inspired dishes, while the setting stays polished without becoming overly formal. Warm textures and contemporary interiors soften the minimalist design, with the layout deliberately drawing attention towards that breathtaking view outside.
