Bringing modern Italian cuisine into focus, Zenzero offers KL diners a seasonal, soulful menu steeped in experience and elegance.
A fresh wave of energy is coursing through one of KL’s most beloved Italian dining spots, Zenzero. At the helm is a chef from Italy, whose cooking is rooted in tradition but unafraid to evolve. His philosophy is to honour the essence of each ingredient, and let technique and seasonality elevate it.
Founded by Roberto Guiati, Zenzero has long carved out a space for honest, refined Italian fare in the heart of the city. Established in December 2013, Zenzero—which means ginger in Italian—pays homage to the spice’s versatility and global presence, mirroring the restaurant’s own balance of heritage and modern flair. Guiati’s vision was to create a space where guests could enjoy thoughtfully made Italian food that’s accessible yet uncompromising on quality.

Strategically located beside the iconic KL Tower, Zenzero draws discerning diners with more than just its enviable address. The space is modern yet warm—where polished finishes meet the comforting aroma of baked focaccia and slow-simmered sauces. Its seasonally driven menu reflects both restraint and imagination, weaving together regional Italian traditions and inventive signatures that cater to loyal regulars and curious first-timers alike.

On the plate, Zenzero balances rustic familiarity with subtle reinvention. The ‘Scallop Carpaccio’ is light yet layered, with delicate slivers of scallop paired with cool fennel jelly, a hint of wasabi mayo for sharpness, and crisp radish for texture.
The ‘Vitello Tonnato’, a Piedmontese classic, is executed with quiet confidence: thin veal, silky tuna emulsion, capers, tomato, and basil caviar come together in elegant harmony.
‘Ravioli’ stuffed with lobster and burrata is a study in craftsmanship—intertwined pasta hues that nod to both aesthetics and precision. The lobster is tender, the seasoning restrained, and the pasta cooked to perfection. Equally memorable is the ‘Lamb Loin with Pistachio Crust’, where gentle acidity from apricot, sweetness from pistachio, and a medium-rare cook on the lamb are brought together with vegetables treated with the same level of care.
Elsewhere, the ‘Wagyu Beef Tartare’ shows the chef’s reverence for quality. Made with buttery M7-grade wagyu and punctuated by sharp mustard, it’s finished with a deep-fried eggyolk—molten in the centre—echoing a technique the chef picked up early in his training in Italy.
A curated wine list rounds out the experience, featuring thoughtful selections from across Italy and beyond. It’s a narrative told through bottles that speak of soil, sun, and centuries-old tradition. This sleek, sunlit space is lined with floor-to-ceiling displays of wine, transforming the restaurant into something of a living cellar. Each label represents a chapter of Italy’s viticultural heritage, from the misty vineyards of Piedmont, known for its elegant Barolos and Barberas, to the sun-drenched coastal plots of Puglia, where bold reds thrive.
You’ll find the mineral-rich whites of Abruzzo and the hearty varietals of Emilia-Romagna alongside the volcanic expressions of Sicily and timeless terroirs of Tuscany. The collection is both expansive and intimate. Among the highlights are a refined selection of Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany’s crown jewel and one of the most esteemed wines in the world. Known for its complexity, age-worthiness, and pure expression of Sangiovese, Brunello anchors the list with a robust and quiet authority.
Whether you’re a casual enthusiast or a seasoned collector, the wine list at Zenzero offers a chance to travel Italy by the glass, guided by the care and curiosity of those who live and breathe its traditions.

Upstairs, Notte by Zenzero, the restaurant’s elegant private dining and lounge area, sets the space for more intimate gatherings. With a striking bar as its centrepiece, this space—available without extra booking fees and no minimum spend—offers a sleek backdrop for special occasions, from celebratory dinners to discreet business meetings.
In a city where restaurants come and go with predictable frequency, Zenzero has remained a steady presence by doing what it does best: delivering thoughtful, seasonal Italian cuisine. Its appeal is in consistency, its assured sense of self, and refusal to compromise on the fundamentals.
