There’s a new opening in Bangsar, and it’s arriving with all the subtlety of a late-night snack craving. Helmed by Chef Joeri Timmermans and Lyn Siew, Disco Kitchen understands a universal truth: great parties are remembered for the food and the hot sauce.

Its launch offering, cheekily named Coffee Rave Boxes, is designed for post-party munchies, after-hours cravings, and those Friday nights when the sofa becomes your only social commitment. Inside the box, you’ll find the Fried Hot Honey Chicken Croissant, taco-wrapped Crab Croquette, BBQ Unagi, Tempura Prawn, and Grilled Beef Short Rib.

Then come the hot sauces. Homemade, self-fermented, and available in four escalating levels of heat. Each one brings a different personality to the table, building from gentle warmth to a respectable burn.

While As I Am by Chef Ton has built its reputation on polished modern Thai cuisine, its R&D concept takes a more relaxed route. The à la carte menu lets diners enjoy the same creativity without committing to a full tasting experience. Highlights include fragrant fried rice crowned with jumbo crab meat, A5 Miyazaki wagyu skewers, and a vibrant corn som tum that deserves a table of its own. Pair them with cocktails infused with Thai tea, lemongrass, and other distinctly Thai flavours.

Japanese-Italian cuisine isn’t something you stumble upon every day, which is precisely why Koji has our attention. The restaurant blends the precision and seasonality of Japanese cooking with the soulfulness of Italian cuisine, using contemporary techniques to create dishes that feel both familiar and unexpected. Highlights include kamameshi claypot rice topped with unagi, akaebi nori tacos, and a twice-cooked Angus short rib.

Confit

French food and Asian flavours have always had great chemistry, especially in Malaysia, where the urge to add a little extra heat or punch to a dish is practically second nature. Nestled in PJ Old Town, Confit leans into that relationship with a menu of sourdough-led bakes, sandwiches, and desserts that strike a balance between comfort and craftsmanship. The atmosphere is refreshingly relaxed too, and ideal for slow breakfasts, long lunches, or an afternoon coffee that somehow turns into cake.

Fresh from Korea, Junghee has opened its first KL outpost at The Campus Ampang, bringing with it a more contemporary take on Korean dining. While Korean barbecue remains part of its DNA, the menu goes beyond grilled meats to showcase thoughtfully crafted dishes that blend tradition with modern influences. Look out for clams served with hand-cut noodles and kale wraps paired with rice and fermented bean sauce.

What happens when one of Malaysia’s favourite kopitiam brands joins forces with a luxury hotel? This June, Shangri-La KL and Oriental Kopi are serving up the answer. As part of a special Visit Malaysia 2026 collaboration, Oriental Kopi’s best-loved dishes will make their way into the hotel’s dining spaces from 3 to 17 June. Expect familiar favourites including Lobster Curry Laksa, Signature Nasi Lemak, Signature Mee Siam, and the brand’s ever-popular egg tart.

Naturally, the beloved Oriental Kopi toast joins the line-up too. Behind that seemingly simple toast lies a surprising amount of precision, so much so that Oriental Kopi has even supplied its signature toaster to the hotel kitchen to ensure every bite arrives with the perfect crunch, butter, and kaya ratio.
