Mortlach’s Neverbound Collection Is The Whisky World’s New Obsession

Mortlach’s Neverbound Release 01 goes straight for bold notes, savoury depth, and serious whisky shelf appeal.

Tired of seeing the same familiar whisky labels making the rounds at every bar cart and back bar? Mortlach is here to disrupt your pour with the arrival of its inaugural Neverbound Collection in Malaysia.

Leading the charge is Mortlach Neverbound Release 01—the brand’s first whisky that ditches the usual obsession with age statements in favour of something far more interesting: flavour. Crafted in Dufftown, Scotland, this release leans fully into intensity, texture, and character, delivering the bold savoury depth Mortlach fans love, but in a completely different register.

For the first time, Mortlach has finished a whisky in French oak casks sourced from the Cognac region. The wood itself is air-dried for up to four years before use, softening the tannins and allowing the casks to bring structure and depth without overpowering the spirit. The result? Mortlach’s signature ‘meaty’ profile becomes richer, darker, and more layered, with an almost umami-like edge that lingers long after the sip.

On the nose, expect red fruits, gentle wood spice, soy sauce, and smoked meat woven together with surprising elegance. The palate opens sweet with demerara sugar before shifting gears into spice, savoury richness, and dense complexity. The finish is long, warming, and intense.

Find Mortlach Neverbound Release 01 at The Chamber and Cellar Eighteen. Quantities are limited in Malaysia, so consider this your chance to pour something your whisky group chat hasn’t discovered yet.
