Welcome back to Hot Bites, our monthly sweep of what’s new, what’s worth it, and what deserves your appetite across the Klang Valley. No filler, just eight openings and new menus you might love. If you’re wondering where to go next, start here.

New openings

Sept

Tucked inside Seventeen Mall, Sept comes from the team behind N.I.C.E. Bistronome and THB Bistronome. The Japanese restaurant covers plenty of ground, from sushi and rice bowls to udon and sandos, making it easy for both lunch and dinner.

Wabi Sabi House

Ara Damansara has a new spot for Muslim-friendly Japanese comfort food. At Wabi Sabi House, the menu moves from onigiri and sandos to mitarashi dango, with matcha and hojicha making plenty of appearances along the way. There’s also an outdoor seating area where your furry companions are more than welcome, because lunch is better when your dog gets to come too.

Shiobee

The food is only half the reason to stop by Shiobee. Housed in a restored 1960s building, the café makes good use of its vintage surroundings, creating a quiet little escape from the usual rush. On the menu are its signature handmade shiobun, alongside pastas, and brunch plates for days when coffee alone simply won’t cut it.

Bukchon Street

The Row KL has welcomed a new Korean neighbour. Bukchon Street brings a line-up of Korean street-food favourites to the neighbourhood, including scallion skewers, hotteok, and charred dak-kkochi, alongside plenty more familiar bites. Come hungry as this isn’t exactly the kind of menu where ordering just one thing is a realistic plan.

Bacio

Mont Kiara has another Italian restaurant on the scene. Located at B.LOT MK, Bacio is led by Chef Stefano Criber and leans into the sort of food most of us never need much convincing to eat: freshly made pasta, pizza, and classic desserts. The atmosphere is easy-going enough for a family dinner, a date or one of those catch-ups that somehow turn into a three-hour meal.

New menus

Hokkaido Table

Remember when the most exciting thing about eating before a movie was grabbing a packet of spiced peanuts from the cart outside the cinema? Those days are clearly behind us.

At Aurum Theatre TRX, Hokkaido Table has launched a new menu that brings European-Japanese flavours to the pre-movie ritual. For those with somewhere to be—or simply a weakness for a properly paced lunch—the Five-Course Business Lunch Omakase offers a more polished midday detour. Available until October, it makes a convincing case for taking lunch a little more seriously.

Ming Ren Xuan

Ming Ren Xuan at Avenue K has introduced new menu sets alongside a spread of premium Cantonese dishes. Among the highlights is the Apple Wood Roasted Peking Duck, joined by Chef-Braised 18 Heads South African ‘Kat Ban’ Dried Abalone and crispy roasted pork belly cubes.

The dim sum selection is worth saving room for too, with char siu buns, truffle prawn dumplings, and Iberico pork cheong fun making it particularly difficult to stop at just one of each.

Niji Sushi Izakaya

Niji Sushi Izakaya keeps things relaxed while serving sushi with a little more polish. The menu moves between familiar Japanese favourites and more playful offerings, including 14 varieties of obanzai—Japanese home-style small plates made for sharing. For tuna fans, the three-cut Maguro set is worth a closer look, featuring akami, chutoro, and otoro, each with its own personality, texture, and level of indulgence.
