There to witness the handshake between YTL Hotels and Tourism Malaysia, but Team Palate was also there to savour the flavours at The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur’s The Library.
Post-pandemic, the world didn’t just reopen, but it rebounded. After two years of pacing living rooms and perfecting banana bread, people fled their homes with passports in hand and appetites fully recharged. Travel soared, restaurants buzzed, and suddenly, ‘revenge travel’ became the only kind of therapy that mattered.
Riding that momentum, YTL Hotels and Tourism Malaysia sealed a brand-new partnership via a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)—one that aligns with Visit Malaysia 2026, with ambitions to spotlight the country as Southeast Asia’s must-visit travel destination. With YTL’s world-class hospitality portfolio of 35 distinctive properties and Tourism Malaysia’s global reach, the alliance promises to elevate Malaysia on the international map and perhaps add a few more stamps to our passports.
But while the dignitaries talked tourism, Team Palate had another equally important mission: dinner.

We took our seats in The Library, The Ritz-Carlton, Kuala Lumpur’s warm, elegant dining space, where books line the walls and the lighting is flattering enough to make anyone feel like a protagonist. The evening kicked off with a Tuna Tataki with Petite Caesar Salad, a refreshing opener that balanced zing and crunch in all the right places.
Then came the soup, a velvety Lobster Bisque, crowned with pan-seared herb tiger prawns. Rich, aromatic, and unapologetically indulgent, it was the kind of soup that makes you reconsider every watered-down broth you’ve ever tolerated.

For the main course, the kitchen sent out Sous Vide Free-Range Chicken with Pommes Anna, mushroom purée, and roasted pumpkin. Comforting yet refined, it struck that sweet spot between “I’ve had a long day” and “I deserve something special.”

Dessert was a playful ode to home: Malaysian Delight, a dreamy plate of coconut cremeux, pandan génoise, pineapple compote, and coconut dacquoise—essentially everything we love about local flavours, dressed up for a night out.

As the evening wrapped, handshakes were exchanged, glasses clinked, and Malaysia’s tourism future looked just a little brighter. If this partnership is a sign of what’s ahead: thoughtful planning, bold ambition, and meals that make you quietly close your eyes, then Visit Malaysia 2026 is already off to a delicious start. And yes, Team Palate will happily volunteer for future ‘official duties.’
