From Truffle Hokkien Char to bak kwa fat-washed Woodford Reserve, you are in for a treat this Lunar New Year.
If you’re the type who believes Chinese New Year should be loud, boozy, and deliciously over the top, Fifty Tales has something lined up just for you, maybe even better. Returning for its second year, the KL cocktail bar once again teams up with Brown-Forman to roll out a festive ‘Chinese New Year Cincai Dinner’, pairing nostalgic flavours with contemporary cocktails for a celebration that’s equal parts tradition and fun.

Running until 2 March 2026, the limited-time menu reimagines classic Lunar New Year dishes through a modern lens. Think family reunion dinner vibes, but with sharper plating and better drinks. The experience comes in two set menus each bundled with festive cocktails inspired by familiar New Year flavours and superstitions.

On the food front, the menu leans heavily into comfort with clever twists. The ‘Fifty Tales Yee Sang’ swaps out the usual plum sauce for a citrusy salted guava and calamansi dressing, crowned with indulgent Chilean abalone for extra ong. Their signature ‘Roasted Corn-Fed Chicken’ is dry-aged for three days before being roasted and served with housemade five-spice salt. The ‘Truffle Hokkien Char’ delivers wok-fried noodles coated in creamy chicken wing sauce and truffle, with a punchy truffle sambal on the side, while the ‘Szechuan-style Cabbage & Cha Om’ brings the heat with mala sauce, peppercorns, and prawns for a smoky, stir-fried finish.

Of course, this is Fifty Tales, so the cocktails steal just as much attention as the food. Each drink plays on Lunar New Year symbolism and kitchen nostalgia. ‘Ma Shang Lai’ is built with prawn fat-washed Tequila Herradura, lychee foam, and plum liqueur that’s inspired by flavours you’d find in grandma’s kitchen and promising instant good fortune.

‘Ah Kam’ leans into prosperity with bak kwa fat-washed Woodford Reserve, mandarin syrup, and chocolate bitters, while ‘Huat Ah’ keeps things lighter and floral with Gin Mare infused with chrysanthemum and citrus. Diners can also add cocktails at RM58++ each when ordered with the set menu.

As if food and drinks weren’t reason enough, Fifty Tales is upping the stakes with a ‘Chinese New Year Lucky Draw’ running until 5 March. Diners who order the ‘Cincai Dinner’ set or purchase selected bottles automatically qualify for entries, with prizes worth over RM10,000, including whiskies from GlenDronach and BenRiach, and a grand prize of a personalised calligraphy painting. Winners will be announced on Fifty Tales’ Instagram, with the final reveal on 5 March.

Bottom line: this isn’t your typical reunion dinner. It’s festive food with cocktail flair, built for groups who want their Lunar New Year loud, flavourful, and a little bit cheeky. For reservations, call +03-2022 1100, and follow @fifty_tales for updates.
